Source notes [4]: “Double wooden bowl consisting of two circular bowls connected by side pieces. 7.90 cm H, 42.70 cm W, 17.50 cm D. Igbo double bowls for offerings to the ancestors.”
Observations: functional ornament (carved cutout handles), visual composition and symmetry, building on an established design language and carving practice, considering how an object lives when not in use, considering an object’s profile/the shadow it leaves, visual and formal contrast and harmony (straight edge vs round bowl), user experience (curved handles, in-built surface wider than bowls to accommodate people)
